About Cheryl Smith

A teeny weeny dancer....

Cheryl Smith started dancing when she was three years old. Starting with Ballet, Tap & Jazz, she moved to Ballroom at the age of eight. Her love of dance was obvious, you couldnt keep her off the floor. Cheryl participated in everything from medals to exhibitions, performances and started competing at Dancesport at the age of 12.

Cheryl was introduced to Aerobics at the age of 14 where she went on to join her first gym at the age of 18 and was teaching Aerobics at 21 gym in the southern hemisphere after which, the boredom set in and she went back to her love of dance.

CHERYL NOURISH YOUR SOUL DALLAS PHOTOCheryl took up Contemporary Jazz at the Tony Bartuccio School of Dance, later on she also took up jazz at the Dance Factory whilst revisiiting her love of Ballroom and Latin Amercian. Her passion for dance saw Cheryl dancing by night and working at her budding corporate career by day.

Corporate Cheryl
Over a period of 15 years, Cheryl worked her way from Receptionist to General Manager, she helped build a small company from zero to $10 million within four years. She was often the only female executive on Management Teams and the youngest Executive at board level.

Pinstripes by day, Sequins by night!

Cheryl’s double life of sequins by night and pinstripe suits by day wasn't working for her corporate career. Ultimately she made the choice to stop dancing. Over several years she grew deserately unhappy, it seemed as though every time she received a salary increase, her butt grew larger and her personal happiness declined. She desperately missed her dancing but her life was so full of work, she couldnt get enough energy to go out and dance as well!

Stressed, overweight, sick and tired!
Stress, unhappiness, poor diet and lack of exercise led Cheryl to a place of misery and despair. Overweight and exhausted all the time, Cheryl had developed various medical conditions that were plaguing her every day life as she looked down the barrel of hospitalisation and surgery.

Avoiding the Surgeons knife
Desperate to find a non-invasive method of treating her various medical conditions Cheryl embarked upon a “get well scheme” that would change her life. She got back in touch with her love of Dance, took a good look at her nutrition, cleaned out her life of unhealthy habits and re-invented her entire life.

Life Cleanup!
As a result, Cheryl lost over 25 kilos and has kept it off for over 7 years. She avoided the surgeons knife several times and healed her own depression without drugs. In 2006 she finished sailing the world as a Dance Teacher and Performer on the Number One Cruiseline in the World with her life partner,
business partner and dance partner, Paul Zaidman.

Fit, Fabulous and 40!

Cheryl started DANCE101 in February 2007 and she is passionate about sharing her learnings
“I found the secret to losing weight, keeping it off and having energy to burn”“and it doesnt include
I want to share it with all those women out there”

"I've been told for so long that when you hit 30 its all down hill from there.  I was told that I will put on weight around my middle, I would lose my figure and there is nothing I could do about it "HORMONES" they told me." "Well, I'm here to say that I'm in my forties now and I'm living proof that it doesn't have to be that way. (Photo above left, I am forty and those are my abs and I don't go to the gym!)

Life gets better with each year and finally I feel like I understand how to be energised, feel great and have the life I want.

I do hope you will join me in this challenge, the results are profound and worth working for.

Please come and visit me or one of my teachers in these fabulous dance classes, we would love to share our happiness with you.
