BLOG - Copenhagen, Denmark

 Well hello there from Scandinavia!!!
We are here in the Capital City of Denmark, Copenhagen and we are docked for the next four days in an industrial port so our 1100 American passengers can conduct their various meetings, conferences and massive parties.

Here we were, foolishly thinking the weather on this trip would be balmy... France, Italy, Greece, Spain... yeah right!!! its absolutely freezing up here in Denmark, about 8 degrees yesterday with a wind chill factor of "darn cold" and today was the same only with a little sunshine!!! Ay Yah!!!

So... instead of staying in the warm cosy ships rooms, we set off on the ships bicycles to map out a route for a 5km fun run and my hands just about dropped off from frostbite! My jaw was so cold I could hardly form words properly and despite the six layers of clothes, I was still freezing.... and this is SPRING TIME!!! Yes, we are in outrage... can you tell???

So, the Amercian Drug Company Chartering the QE2 has been heaps of fun. They are all young and this is their big company "thank you" for hitting a billion dollars worth of sales. The whole company is here, the food is laid on and alcohol is free.... one woman was found in the morning, asleep outside her cabin door, she was too drunk to find her keys :-)

On the first day we taught four dance classes, they loved it.... loud, clapping every time they learned something and mucking about as much as they could. It was a hoot, we loved their energy and had a ball with them.

Copenhagen
A little about Copenhagen..... despite the cold, is a gorgeous city, its the capital city of Denmark and has over 5 million people and over 8 million bicycles!!! Well with the 200% taxes on cars I'm not suprised. Everything is very expensive here.... example... I tried to purchase a pair of tights today... I might pay between $3 and $15 dollars in Melbourne depending on the quality... here I would easily pay $35!!! A McDonalds burger, without the rest of the meal is at least $7-8, sometimes $10!! You see.... Denmark lumps its education, medical, dental and unemployment costs into just about everything... kind of like a really big GST. They seem to love it and we the tourists seem to stay away in droves. The whole crew stayed on board tonight, to avoid the enormous costs of the City....

After this Charter we return to Southampton and take off to Norway... yay! its even colder! We travel around there for a while then hit the Med again for a two week cruise where we get to go to the Greek Islands.... cant wait for that.

We are getting into the swing of things now, really missing home though (refer private blog for Cheryls friends) but enjoying the ship life for what its worth. (except the new chef hasnt lifted his game in the last two weeks and we have lost the urge to eat :-( )

Tomorrow we are going into town again, a group of us are going to the local salsa club, should be interesting.
