Salsa & Argentine Tango Classes, Chelsea, Melbourne

Classes have finished for 2008 and resume 15th January, 2009

For the first six weeks in this new venue, Eddie will be holding "back to back" Beginner classes.  This means you get double the opportunity to pick up the basics before we introduce the Intermediate class on October 16

7.30pm Intermediate Class

RED dress istockphoto tangoThis is where we take it real slow, get your feet working first, then move you to music, then with a partner.  We make sure you master the absolute basics of Argentine Tango and take time so you really get it.  You won't find us rushing through the moves, we tailor our classes to you, so you get the benefit of that wonderful Tango feel! We take you right from your first steps and settle down the basics so you really get it.  We then work on our lead and follow, timing and musicality.

You don't need a partner in this class, we rotate partners so you get to dance with others if you come on your own.  However, if you do bring your own partner and don't want to change, you won't be forced to and can dance with your partner all night!

8.30pm Beginner Class

This class is for those people who have already mastered the absolute basic Argentine Tango step, or are transferring over from another dance style.  This class is faster paced, we assume you can already work with a partner in a lead & follow situation (somewhat).  It's also assumed you can dance to the basic Tango rhythm.

In Beginner Argentine Tango, we take you through the various moves we have prepared for you, they are specifically selected for this level and we teach them to you using plain english.  No technical terms in our classes....oh and everything is in English in this class too!

9.30pm Social Dancing, FREE Entry, Everyone welcome!

At DANCE101 we aim to offer FREE social dancing at the end of all our classes.  You don't need to be a student to come along and enjoy this time, everyone is welcome.  So if you live close by or are learning at another dance place, you will be welcomed and find our people friendly and easy to dance with.

As we say at DANCE101, there are THREE things you need to do to learn how to dance

  1. Learn - Get yourself to a Salsa Lesson
  2. Practice - Stay on the floor and practice, at least 15 minutes after your class!
  3. Dance - Get out there and dance in a real environment, check out our news or events page for info about opportunities to dance
