Congratulations Brett & Wendy!

Congratulations to Bretty & Wendy who took out second place in the Copacabana Amatuer Salsa Competition on Friday night 24th April!

Well done to Tristan, Blaz, Adam, Lesley who also competed with absolute gusto and whippped it up on that old Copa dance floor! You guys were awesome!

Previously, DANCE101 has run a 6 week course to prepare for this competition but since we are now involved in the Victorian Salsa Classic, we didnt run a program and that makes the effort of these guys even more outstanding.  All three couples trained themselves and entered themselves with very little coaching!

All three couples plotted and schemed ever so quietly to enter the competition on their own, I think Brett and Wendy had some help from their wonderful teachers Scott & Lauren (St Kilda) but even still, I believe it was minimal!

The amazing thing about this comp was not just the efforts of the competitors but the support from their dancing friends and DANCE101 supporters!  Paul and I walked into the venue late on Friday night and found about 30-40 DANCE101 students all hanging out, dancing and having fun with each other.  There were students from Phillip Island, Dandenong, Chelsea, Brighton, St Kilda and Williamstown!

It was fantastic to see the community network of people working to bring people onto the dancefloor!

Paul and I won a competition also on Friday night, our own personal competition of connecting people, creating friendships and getting people onto the dancefloor!

Congratulations to everyone who competed, a special well done to Wendy who took out 2nd place in her very first Dance Competition and well done to everyone in the DANCE101 network who went along and injected their warmth and friendship into the world!

I've said it before.... YOU GUYS ROCK!
