Enroute to Costa Rica

Feb 2nd 2010 (Enroute to Costa Rica)

panama canalOh dear, got carried away enjoying the cruising for a while and forgot to blog!

The weather has been incredibly calm all through the Caribbean, Panama Canal and Costa Rica. The sun has been shining and its just been absolutely glorious.  Paul and I have been enjoying the company of the guests and the wonderful entertainers on board.

It's an amazing situation on the ship, you get to meet some incredible people and then just hang out with them.  Its so easy, you just say "Hey, you want to dinner with us tonight?" and that's it, there's no checking of the schedule, emailing and getting back to someone, we're all here, onboard and the question is, do you have a show or not.  If not, cool, which restaurant do we eat at?  So we have had some wonderful meals and shared loads of time with the most incredible people.

This last cruise has been awesome because the Cruise Director onboard has allowed me to trial the DANCE101 Ladies ONLY Latin Dance Program.  As suspected, it went off with a bang and the ladies are all requesting it on a daily basis.  All these ladies came out of the woodwork to do the class and they had an absolute ball.  It was fantastic to do and see how happy they are when they are dancing.

cartagena columbia crystal cruisesWe're on our way to Costa Rica right now, this is the last night of our 2nd cruise.  Tomorrow we say goodbye to the wonderful people we have gotten to know on this cruise and we welcome a load of new people.  Its always a funny day for us, we miss the lovely people we have met and even though they think we dont miss them, we really do.

So tomorrow we start our last cruise of this 6 week contract, its been an absolute blast and we just love working with Crystal, they are an inspiring company to work with, the staff love it and they treat everyone so well. Its always intriguing to see how Crystal works and the levels they go to to create a difference in this world.

Jan 22, 2010 (Key West, Miami, Florida)

THE BEST day on Jetskiis today!  A group of us from the ship took a 90min tour around the island of Key West, Miami, it was absolutely stunning!  The waters were fantastic and our tourguide took us to this massive open space and just let us rip into it!  We travelled across two oceans and saw dolphins really close up.  We stopped to have a look at them and noticed their behavior was really different, slow, swirling movements, close to each other (it was just two of them) it was almost like they were doing some kind of dance.  Then a third dolphin came along and joined in, later we realised they were mating! I felt bad, perving on them like that!  But they didnt seem to mind one bit!

We've finished our 1st cruised, picked up a new bunch of guests yesterday and now we are enroute to the Caribbean and then onto the Panama Canal.  The weather is great, the seas are calm and cobalt blue.

We're having a ball, eating, relaxing, dancing and meeting lots of guests we've sailed with in the past. Its such a gorgeous environment, another day in paradise!

This blog is a personal account of the journey of Paul Zaidman and Cheryl Smith dating back to March 2005 when we first were recruited to sail onboard the QE2 as dancers, performers and teachers.

What started as a 4 month contract turned into almost two years as we progressed to the number 1 cruiseline, Crystal Cruises. This blog was updated regularly with photos and stories.

The latest updates are from the most recent cruises in January 2010
