Copacabana Amateur Salsa Competition - April 2010 |

Congratulations to all the competitors who danced at the Copacabana Salsa Competition on Friday April 30, 2010, you did an amazing job!
We were so impressed with the DANCE101 students, not just in your dancing but in the way you handled yourselves and the community you were for the other dancers on the floor.
When we left the venue at some strange hour (only to return 6 hours later) we were overwhelmed with a sense of happiness and fulfillment. Originally, DANCE101 ran a preparation program to get you trained up, partnered up and ready to go onto the floor. We chose not to do this for the April comp and we were so impressed with what YOU created! You talked amongst yourselves, you partnered up, you practiced, came up with your own routines and you invited your family and friends to come and watch!
The community of DANCE101 people at the event was huge and Paul and I didnt arrange it! Neither did any of our teachers! You guys put it together! Not only that but you're really organised! You had made up signs, really awesome signs! One student even emailed us for our logo and attempted to make a sign through his printing business! (Go John Rotheram)
And then there was the support, the enthusiasm, the loudness of you all! It was fantastic! When MC Paul Zaidman stepped onto the floor, you couldnt give a hoot about him, you shouted him down whilst you boomed to support your teamates, it was just wonderful to witness. It was pretty funny too cos Paul had no idea who was making the noise but when he turned to see you all, he kind of giggled in a knowing way "oh, yeah, that's our guys, they are going to be like that all night". And he was right, you just kept supporting people, yelling, screaming, banging around to create as much energy as you could!
We were so impressed with the community of students we left the night completely dumbstruck and in awe of who you guys are for each other. Congratulations, you are such awesome people!
