Friday February 5th 2010 has been confirmed at Spensers Live, 419 Spencer Street, Melbourne.
As always we are excited to be running our next event at this venue, its known as one of the best venues for "awsome sound" and the most gorgeous dark timber dance floor with no boundaries!
This is a 100% Ticketed event, if you dont have a ticket prior to the event (or have your name on our ticket list) we cant give you access to the venue! So purchase your tickets now!
Tables will be reserved and allocated on a "first booked" basis, so get your table organised and book in now, there is limited seating and its comfy and gorgeous, you WILL want to book it!

Rumour has it Salsa at Sea Baths (Melbourne) is no longer. So if you're up for some great Latin Dancing, wonderful atmosphere and no idiots to wreck the vibe, then you have to come to the Docklands!

 Atmosphere
Sunday nights are awesome in this "best kept secret" at the Melbourne Docklands. The scenery is stunning, view of the city skyline, yatchs in behind and a wonderful breeze off the water. You're protected from the wind and sun with the afternoon sun setting behind buildings, seriously its the best environment for spending your Sunday nights!
Floor Surface
If you love to dance then you will want to know what the floor surface is like. Its concrete! Like all good street latin venues, the surface is rough and there will be no spinning on this dance floor you can bet on that! So for all those people that just love to get their groove on and aren't "floor princesses" you will love this place. If you're looking for fast timber floors, then dont come to the Docklands!
Hot Tip! Dont wear your dance shoes, they will be wrecked within one day. Guys, wear boots or flat soled walking / running shoes. Girls, sandals are great, the harder the surface of your shoe the better. Dont wear rubber shoes, they heat up as the day goes on and stick to the concrete anymore.
My favorite pair of shoes for the Docklands are an old pair of Cowboy boots! They rock!
What happens
There's a free Beginner Salsa class at 5pm, its completely free and loads of fun. If you've ever wanted to learn Salsa and been too embarassed or shy, then this is a great opportunity to do it. If you're a slow learner and want to just take your time learning the basics, this class is awesome. Or if you just want to meet people and have some fun, you will love it too.
After the class we then play Salsa and Latin music till 10pm. You'll find a combination of Salsa, Cha Cha, Merengue, Bachata, Rumba, sometimes Samba, Swing and even the odd Argentine Tango if you request it!
We often break out into some Solo dancing, some of our teachers lead the challenge and take everyone who's willing through some of the basics to several dances. When this happens you want to jump up and onto the floor because its the best FREE Lesson you can get and its loads of fun!
Classes and Dancing goes all the way through from the 1st week of December to the last week of February 2010

 Who's welcome
Everyone! This is one of the rare events where you can bring anyone from your kids to your grandmother and they will feel comfortable. There is seating around and lots of bench style seating so there's always somewhere to sit. We have many people bring the whole family, including the dogs and they are warmly welcomed. We love seeing the kids on the dancefloor, so dont feel shy about bringing them, there's heaps of room and everyone is welcome.
Seating
There are three restaurants that have seating inside and out, you are more than welcome to make bookings with them or casually roll up, they love it. There is also bench style seating all around and you can easily pull up a seat and watch the crowd. If you want to bring your own seating, you can do that too, its a public area!
Food & Drink
The local restaurants will love your business and they serve awesome meals along with standard bar prices for drinks. Yarra's Edge Bar and Cafe has a wonderful selection of wines and spirits and its a gorgeous atmosphere to sit and enjoy the music, the people and the gorgeous city skyline. The restaurant owners are also nice people and if you need to use their toilets, they smile at you graciously and show you where they are. You can bring your own food or drink too and no-one will bust your chops, so feel free to enjoy the experience however you choose.

Directions
Picture this, Docklands has four major sections to it, most people think of the central section which is New Quay or even Central Pier, its not at either of them! Its not even at Victoria Harbour, its at Yarra's Edge, the southern-most section of Melbourne Docklands. So head towards the South Melbourne section and find your way to 70 Lorimer St.
When you get there, it will look really dead and you will think you're in the wrong spot, but park your car and right opposite the Citylink office, you walk towards the water (towards the city) in between two large appartment blocks, turn right and you will see the people dancing in the open air.
If its your first time, allow a bit of extra time, Docklands can be confusing! But once you find it, it will be easy from there.
Parking
There is loads of parking around the Citylink offices and further up the road, its paid parking but hey, you get the class and the whole night for free!

Sunday August 23rd is the night for Latin Dancing and Karaoke at the Melbourne Docklands.
Come and enjoy this fabulous night in this gorgeous location. Held at the Yarras Edge Bar and Cafe, entry is free, the staff are friendly and you can sing OR dance OR BOTH!
